Go to: Start > Run
Paste the following into the run dialog (without quotes):
"RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\inf\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove"
This can also be pasted directly into a batch (.BAT or .CMD) file.
Now install a proper IM client such as Trillian or Gaim.
