To do this you will need to edit the registry.
Please note that this tip is for experienced users only. If you make incorrect changes to the registry it can cause serious problems such as stopping your PC from booting up.
1. Click 'Start' - 'Run'
2. Type 'regedit' and press ENTER.
3. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer
4. In the right pane, double click 'Download Directory'

6. Click OK

8. Close Internet Explorer 9. Restart Internet Explorer
The next time you download a file it will use your new default location
