Installation of Protection Pilot is very simple. Firstly, you will need to download Protection Pilot 1.1.1 (PRP). You can install PRP on any machine but a server is preferable. After installation has completed there are a few problems that may occur.
If the PC / Server you installed PRP on has multiple Network Interface Cards (NICs) you will have to make a couple of configuration changes:
- Open "C:\Program Files\McAfee\ProtectionPilot\1.x.x\DB\server.ini"
- Add "ServerIPAddress=<IP_ADDRESS></IP_ADDRESS>" (without quotes) at the bottom (within the [server] section) replacing <IP_ADDRESS></IP_ADDRESS>with the IP address of the machine Protection Pilot is installed on (probablysomething like: 192.168.*.*).
- Open "C:\Program Files\McAfee\ProtectionPilot\1.x.x\DB\Software\Current\EPOAGENT3000\Install\0409" and delete "FramePkg.exe" and "Framework.z"
- Open "services.msc" and restart the service called "ProtectionPilot Server" (the service name might vary from that)...
You can now use PRP to push the agent and scanner out to all client PCs.
